First, get safe
- Pull as far onto the shoulder as you can. Flashers on.
- Set out your warning triangles. On a divided highway like the Thruway: about 10, 100 and 200 feet behind the truck. On a two-lane road: 10 feet and 100 feet behind, and 100 feet ahead. Go farther back if a hill or curve hides the truck.
- Stay off the travel lane side of the truck.
- Note the mile marker and direction (eastbound or westbound), or the street and nearest cross street.
Then call or send a request
Call (315) 922-9680, or send your location and the problem with the roadside request form. It works on a phone and can share your location so nobody has to guess where you are.
